What do you wish? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness? 1 Corinthians 4:21
As the saying goes, there’s more than one way to skin a cat. So it is with dealing with people.
Paul is giving the Corinthians a choice. I can adhere to “spare the rod, spoil the child”, or you can wise up and we can talk about this. The main idea being that there is no one-size fits all solution when it comes to believers or unbelievers, each person learns in different ways, and Paul is well versed in both.
