Keep each other in check
When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? … 1 Corinthians 6:1
Rough ride ahead, but we’ll steer through, God-willing.
However, 6:1 is easy because it echoes something I’ve been saying before - as much as possible we should keep each other in check.
The words go to law before the unrighteous (instead of the saints, which would be other Christians) refers to pagan courts, and the dodgy practices and standards they hold to. So in context of the ancient rituals, it really just means why lower your standards to convict (or save) your brother in Christ?
Despite modernization seemingly favouring Christian courts in western worlds, this idea still holds true - your Christian brothers (and sisters) should hear about it first, not when you go on trial, or worse, not when you enter the judgment of your non-Christian friends who will judge you based on the world (and is often more liberal).
