A difficult place to be
But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one… 1 Corinthians 5:11
To add to the severity of the past few verses, Paul further adds that we shouldn’t even be eating with one, which in the past was an allegory for being friends.
Can we not be friends with people who are doctrinally incorrect?
Yes, we can, but it is an increasingly hard position to be in. Not just because of the pressures of averting from his or her doctrine, but also because of the social aspect, the other judges - our conservative peers.
